A New Hospital Director for Glenhurst Lodge - a locked rehabilitation unit in Maidstone, Kent
Glenhurst Lodge - a locked rehabilitation unit for 22 patients - in Maidstone, Kent has a new Hospital Director - Mark Ashby.
Mark began his career in 1991 as an occupational therapist working with people with learning disabilities and associated challenging behaviours.
His career focused on working with patients in secure settings ranging from low to high secure environments.
Mark spent time working in the State Hospitals Board for Scotland, Carstairs Hospital, as a senior clinical and then Head of Occupational Therapy providing high secure care for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
He then moved to Broadmoor High Secure Hospital initially as Head of Occupational Services where he reviewed and reconfigured the service in line with a modernisation agenda.
His second post there was Service Director; in this role he provided leadership, direction and operational management to the London Men\'s High Secure Clinical Directorate.
This including nine wards (120 Beds), a primary healthcare service, sport and leisure department, vocational service department and a range of healthcare professional including psychology, occupational therapy, social work, psychotherapy, neurophysiology and arts therapy.
More recently, Mark has been working in an Independent Sector Hospital providing secure care as Service Manager and Head of Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation.
